How to sell art from home

Revelations from our visit to the Scarpa-designed house museum of Antonio Canova in Possagno.

In the 1950s, Carlo Scarpa transformed the house museum of Antonio Canova in Possagno into a living studio where one can easily imagine how the artist-entrepreneur dazzled his clients with a strategic showcase of working models — some rough, some smooth and some peppered with the nails as markers to make finished marbles. Unexpectedly, there is a series of small tempera paintings on paper. All with black backgrounds, inspired by Pompeian frescos, many take on dance subjects.
